This morning marked the midpoint for boot camp. I didn't know it but that meant we got to run the mile again. Joy.
I almost didn't make it today... I wasn't feeling well when I got up and had barely slept last night. I don't know why but I just couldn't stay asleep. It was awful. So this morning when I was running late I really almost threw in the towel and went back to bed.
I pushed through it, though, and went on to the park. I pretty much flew up Buford Highway to get there on time-ish. Imagine my happiness when Sara, our lead instructor, announced it was mile time.
I huffed and puffed my way through the mile, thinking I was going to barf a couple of times. But, thanks to Molly and Regina, two awesome instructors who were kind enough to stay with me...
I CUT THREE MINUTES OFF MY MILE TIME!!!!
That's right kids... I was originally at 14:09, as the newspaper was nice enough to print. Today, I did it in 11:11. The look of shock on my face at the finish line was enough to make Sara laugh as she called out my time.
I seriously cannot believe it. I now know that all this butt-busting is helping. I am exhausted, cranky, full of food that isn't necessarily what I want to eat and sore... but I am improving.
Improvement = Not suffering as much from altitude = Very Good Thing.
