Boot camp: day 1

I think I have lost my mind. I was up at 4:45am today to get to the park at 5:15am for my first day of boot camp.

Actually, I am pretty proud of myself for how it went. We started with a warm up (it was the hardest part!) and then went straight to the PT test. The tests consisted of:
  • Number of sit ups in one minute: 32
  • Number of pushups in one minute: 30 plus 4 modified
  • One mile run: my time was 14:09

I was most scared of the mile run. I seriously haven't run a mile since high school. I thought I was dead meat. My goal was to try and pace myself and not walk at all during the run. I stayed at a slow jog for the whole thing and didn't slow down once! I even managed to run full-out for the last stretch, thanks to an awesome trainer named Molly. I was fine with my time because it was nowhere near 20 minutes, which is what I seriously thought it would be. During the run I just kept thinking "If kids in Nepal can be homeless and have no parents then I can run a mile!"

The class is mostly women which is nice. Much less intimidating. There were a ton of instructors, probably 6 or 7, to keep us going. That was good too.

After the PT test we did some ab exercises. I'm sure I will be in a huge amount of pain by tomorrow. For now I am mostly just sleepy and trying to drink 92 ounces of water. Yeah. 92.

Gracie Bonds Staples and a super nice photographer named Becky from the AJC came out this morning. They are both so sweet, I really enjoyed talking with both of them. I hope that the article comes out soon and that it gives people a good idea of what I am doing and why.

All right dear readers, I am going to go see if I can rustle up some fiber for breakfast. I already had a protein shake but I am hungry again!

WOW! Very impressive! I need to get back to the gym, myself, to redeem my post-baby-#2-body as closely as possible. HA! I am sure I could use any tips you have to give!! :)
