So apparently the best way to train for high altitude is to do cardio while wearing a weight vest.
I had ten pounds in the weight vest this weekend while working out with Jarrad, the awesomest trainer in the world. He made me do suicides out in the hot sun - no shade for me! Might as well get used to the most difficult conditions, right? You wouldn't think ten pounds would be that tough but holy cow!!! It was amazing how much difficulty it added. Makes me glad that I lost those ten pounds I gained. I'd be having a MUCH harder time right now.
I am two months and eleven days out from leaving. I really need to call the airline and confirm that my flights all still exist! I have my Nepal visa all ready to go in my passport, all my shots are done, just a few more medications to pick up and I will be totally ready. I think I pretty much have all my essential gear... just missing a couple of things like sunblock, extra chapsticks, you know - silly things I can get anytime.
I got a list of everyone who is going on the trek. There are 17 of us - ten girls and seven guys. I was surprised! Mostly Canadian and US but some UK, one German, one Irish, one Singapore, one Hong Kong, one New Zealander. I created a Yahoo group for us to get to know each other so hopefully people will use it! I can't wait to tell you about everyone and to meet them.
