As of today I have exactly fifty days til I leave for Nepal.
I can't believe how much time has already passed... I decided to do this thing last December - when September 25 seemed to be a lifetime away! But I am getting down to the wire, finally.
I feel like I have been slacking on my physical training. Time to pick that back up and start kicking ass again! Jarrad and I are planning to do three workouts a week, Monday-Wednesday-Saturday, starting next week. I will also be doing kickboxing and maybe some dance classes to help with conditioning. I really, really need to hike. This is the hardest part for me. I'm sort of afraid to do it on my own but it's so hard to plan things with other people. Plus it has been SO NASTY hot outside!!! That makes it tough to get out there and do it.
But I think I am pretty much good to go on all my gear, which is awesome. I just have a few minor things to pick up like batteries, sunblock, etc. Nothing terribly important. Oh! And I have to learn how to use my solar charger! That should be fun. I am hoping it will work great for my iPod and cell phone. Yes, I am taking a cell phone. How could I not??!! Verizon has a thing where you can essentially rent a satellite phone from them (there are two - a Motorola and a Blackberry). I am thinking the Blackberry because then I can have the internet wherever I go as well. Y'all will be getting all kinds of crazy text messages from me!!
I finally sent out thank you notes to several people this morning. I feel terrible that it took me this long BUT it took forever to get donor names and addresses from the Global Volunteer Network!
Have a wonderful day!!
